No amount of professional voice acting is going to save a bad script.

Keep reading to learn how you can write amazing voice over scripts.

Do you feel like your business videos aren't producing the results you'd hoped for?

Mastering the art of the perfect business video can be tricky.

After all, we're not all natural-born filmmakers.

But, considering how much videos can help your business, it's certainly a worthwhile art to master.

In fact, did you know that after watching a video, 64 percent of consumers are more likely to buy your product?

Or, did you know that 55 percent of people watch videos online every day?

Or that including a video on your landing page can increase your conversion rates by 80 percent?

We could go on and on with statistics, but the point is clear: videos can help your business grow.

But, you can't just create any video.

You need to create one that engages your customers.

And to do that, you need a great voice over script.

Not sure how to write one?

Read on to learn how to write professional voice over scripts.

Keep it Casual

As we all know, the way we write is much different than the way we speak.

However, many people forget about this when writing video scripts.

Great voice over scriptwriters all have one thing in common: they write their scripts like the way we speak.

When you write scripts like you speak, your tone will be much more relaxed and conversational.

Therefore, you have a much better chance of connecting with your viewers.

If you write the script like you'd normally write an article or some other piece of marketing material, you will sound robotic and dull.

It won't take long before a user stops watching your video and looks for something more personable.

To write conversationally, stick to smaller words and shorter sentences.

If you're not sure how the script sounds, read it aloud as you write it.

Ask yourself, "Does this sound like something someone would actually say in real life?"

If the answer is yes, then you're doing it right.

Don't Beat Around the Bush

Business videos are not like movies.

They're short, so you can't afford to waste time drawing out your message.

Instead, you need to get to the point right away.

If you waste time leading up to the point, you will lose your audience members.

Focus on the message of the video, and present it in a clear manner.

Not sure what your message is?

That leads us to our next point...

Have a Clear Message

You shouldn't be creating business videos just for the sake of creating business videos.

From the minute you start crafting your voice over script, you should have a clear goal in mind.

Don't let new ideas distract you along the way, as this will make you lose sight of your message.

There's probably a lot you want to say about your products, services, and your brand.

But, you don't need to cover everything in one video.

Instead, pick one topic, decide on a message, and write your script around that.

You can always (and should) create more business videos.

Trying to cram too much info into one video will just confuse your audience.

Picking a message that is clear and simple will keep them interested and keep them coming back for more.

Silence is Golden

As we said earlier, you don't have any time to waste in your business videos.

The script should definitely be succinct, but that doesn't mean there isn't some room for dramatic pauses.

Think of pauses in videos like white space in visual design.

By adding something plain and simple, your viewers have more time to digest important pieces of information.

But, don't just pause for the sake of drama.

Add in pauses only after saying very important pieces of information.

And, don't draw out the pauses for too long.

You still want the script to mimic a natural speech pattern.

Consistency is Key

One of the biggest mistake people make when writing voice over scripts is writing in an inconsistent voice.

Whether you have a team of writers or it's just you, it can be easy to lose track of the voice if you're not paying attention.

No matter how many people worked on the script, you want it to sound like it's coming from one person.

Doing this will help the narrator sound more credible as if they deeply understand the topic.

If there are multiple writers on the job, make sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to the tone of voice, point of view, contraction use.

Eliminating inconsistencies will help the script flow together seamlessly, making your business sound more legitimate.

Use Transitions

It's also very important to include transitions in your video script.

Transitions help let your viewers know that you are moving onto the next sub-topic.

This will help make your overall message more cohesive.

However, choose your transitions wisely.

Remember, you still want it to sound natural.

Words like "henceforth"  or "here to for" do not always sound conversational.

Stick to simpler words like "so", "therefore", "but", "yet" and "meanwhile".

Include a Call to Action

No matter how great your voice over script is, it can totally fall apart if it doesn't have a call to action.

That's because, without a call to action, your viewers won't know what their next step should be.

Some may try to dig and figure it out on their own, but this is rare.

Most will just leave your site and forget about your business.

So, make sure that at the end of your video, you tell your audience what you want them to do next.

It can be something as simple as, "Get in contact with us today," Or, "Check out this blog article for more information".

Just as long as there's some kind of call to action, you're good to go.
